Often imitated, never duplicated - Fontina Val d'Aosta is the original Italian fontina. It is semi-firm & creamy, with a washed rind that imparts a mildly pungent aroma. Flavors are rich and nutty with a subtle hint of fruit and grass. One of the world's greatest melting cheeses, it is the centerpiece to Piedmont's famous fonduta - a silky blend of Fontina val D'Aosta, cream, eggs, and shaved white truffle. Also fantastic on a sandwich with prosciutto, or added to mozzarella on a pizza.
